A. S. Daulat's disclosures expose former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah's tacit approval of the abrogation of Article 370, which is equivalent of a bombshell dropped by a highly credible officer. This was nothing less than a political bomb blast resulting in tornadoes and a storm in the political bodies of Jammu and Kashmir. If his disclosures in the book are accurate, it exposes the duplicity and hypocrisy of NC President and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and the National Conference-NC and the bombshell is no less than a brewing political storm in J & K which might affect the political future of the NC and it is indeed a great and serious matter and cannot be thrown to the dustbin since there are political ramifications on the ruling NC party as well. A.S. Daulat wrote in his book titled, "The Chief Minister and the Spy" that NC patron and former J&K Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah show encroaching support for the abrogation of Article 370, while at the same time showing the world that he was certainly opposed to it.
It is a very serious and sensitive matter and could create splits in the mainstream, regional and traditional political party which is not only regarded as a political party but also as a movement. Daullt uncovers NC patron's 'secret support' of Article 370's abrogation. It is not a normal matter and issue and could create splits in NC led by none other than senior Farooq Abdullah against which allegations have been made. Farooq Abdullah's reported actions have brought about political storm, stir, uproar, controversy and violent and severe reactions from political parties across the spectrum. Peoples Conference PC Chief and Handwara MLA Sajad Gani Lone has stated that he is not surprised at Daullt's revelation by the ex Chief of RAW and he stressed that these revelations made against NC chief Farooq Abdullah have come from a very legitimate, high class and most respected officer and for that reason these revelations cannot be seen as made up. NC as usual has said these revelations are an insider conspiracy to diminish the credibility of NC. He further mentioned that the meeting of incumbent Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah with PM on August 4, 2019 was never a mystery for him.
From the revelations of Daullt Shain, it seems believable. Daullt Sahib is closest ally and a friend of farooq abdullah. Lone further said that now NC is playing a victim card for damage control but it will not help the NC. Lone further said that NC will deny the revelations and term it as another conspiracy against NC. Waheed Parra, the PDP leader and MLA from Pulwama, said in a post, "Daullt's revelations today tear away the NC's last veil." He said, "Daullt's revelations today tear away the NC's last remaining veil.
Daullt's revelation is not shock, it confirmation. A mirror held up to decades of hypocritical, opportunistic, and moral collapse.' PDP leader Iltija Mufti said it is evident Farooq Abdullah chose to stay in Kashmir as opposed to the parliament to assist in normalizing the gutting of J&K's constitution and the following betrayal. Farooq Abdullah responded to Daullt's book stating it is a bundle of lies and a figment of imagination and disclosures are made solely for gaining chief popularity. Denouncing the book bomb shell, 'The chief Minister and the Spy', written by former RAW chief A.S. Daullt as bundle of lies, NC president Dr. Farooq Abdullah said on Wednesday that his claims are figment of imagination. NC president called his book a 'piece of fiction' which he is attempting to advertise as the work based on facts. Remember Daullt in his new book has mentioned that Farooq Dr privately supported the removal of article 370 and publicly opposed it. Farooq responded that me and my son Omar was jailed for several months at the time of the abrogation of article 370's removal. Once we were released from jail I with leaders of several political parties flouted a coalition for opposition and restoration of article 370 and 35 A and if I was supporting abrogation why should I constitution an organisation called GUPKAR alliance and I have still not come out from this alliance.
Whatever it is, it stirs a Hornets nest that Dr. Farooq was in fact supportive of the abrogation of Article 370. These revelations created a very embarrassing or difficult situation as many of the people and political parties and leaders are angry with it. The Daullts revelations have created a tricky or complicated situation. It is evident that these revelations have created a very difficult situation for Farooq Abdullah and the National Conference and may create fissures in the traditional and mainstream political party with an all Jammu Kashmir base and following. With the startling revelations there are chances several emotional leaders and politicians will sever relations with the NC and resign from the party. Political leaders of J&K read Kashmir will not take these revelations lightly and they will certainly not bury their heads in the sand either. Political Pundits are stating they will monitor the situation closely and in the coming days they will unlock many cupboards and BC will a lot hurt feelings too.
The coming days will reveal to us how the rank and file of NC will react to the statements made by no less a man than former RWA Chief Daullt. The NC very predictably reacted first, by using their spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq to downplay Dulat’s claims as lies and a conspiracy to defame the NC and Farook Abdullah. The NC rejected Dulat’s statements on Farooq Abdullah's taking a similar stand on Article 370, as it is important for the NC to shadow box to placate their rank and file. The NC's chief spokesperson and MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq has rejected claims made by former RAW chief A.S Dulat in his new book which will be released on April 18, 2025. He claimed the statement made by Dulat were contradictory and just a publicity stunt to create controversy in the media. In moods short Dault's revelations could possibly create stir and flatter in NC. The party cannot recover from the loss of a repute amongst its supporters and those who don't support them. There aren't many takers of NC chief's innocence. The revelations in the book doesn't diminish to a storm in a tea cup, but represent a real political storm which is brewing in Kashmiri politics and political circles.
