The day itself is observed with a fast to sacrifice some of the comforts we have temporary to achieve higher goals. Fasting usually starts a day or two prior to the festival. Rituals of the day indicate it's a nice day to start something new and acquire possessions, whether that's launching a new business or buying gold.

The day is also called Akshai Tritiya. The Parshuram celebration is very significant to Hindu religion. Because both days fall on the same day. Parahuram Jayanti is the eve of birth day of Lord Parshuram. Parashuram Jayanti is celebrated on the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha month of Vaishakha. Parshuram Jayanti is very much religiously important day in Hindus because this day is celebrated for birth day anniversary of Lord Parshuram. He is believed to be the sixth incarnation of Bhagwan Vishnu ,preserver of this universe. Lord Parshuram was born on on the Tritiya Tithi under the Pradosh Kaal. The main reason of Lord Parshuram Ji's incarnation was to kill impious, sinful and ruthless kings and also decrease the burden of earth .He also finished kshatriyas 21 times from earth. Lord Parshuram ji was a Brahmin and he had attitudes of kshatriya. It is also believed, once Lord Parshuram attacked on Lord Ganesha.

Parshuram is one of the Ashta Chrianjeevi’s and is still in existence on earth somewhere in the mountains. The Hindu scriptures state that Bhagwan Parshuram ji will be the Guru of Lord Kali (One of the 10th incarnations of Lord Vishnu) where he will teach him martial arts and will give him shastra and Shastra Vidya. Lord Parshuram is not worshipped widely as comparable with Lord Krishna and Lord Rama but there are many temples of him on the South India such Udupi in Karnataka. There are more temples of Bhagwan Parshuram on the Western coast of India. The Parshuram Jayanti is celebrated on the third day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha which is the on April 29, 2025. On this day, people will visit temples dedicated solely to the Maharashi, in order to pay their respects to him. They will also visit temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu as it is believed that the Maharashu is his incarnation .Parshuram also known as Rama Jamadagnya, Rama Bhargava and Virarama is the sixth avatar among the Ddashavatra of the preserver god Vishnu in Hinduism.

He is thought to be one of the Chiranjivi's immortals, who will come at the end of the Kali Yuga to be the guru of Vishnu's tenth and last incarnation, Kalki He was born to Jamadagri and Renuka. The Brahmin Parsurama was foretold to come at the time evil overran the world. The Kshatriya race, with weapons and power, had begun to abuse their power, take what was not theirs, and rule with tyranny. He re-balanced the cosmic order by eliminating the Kshatriyas twenty-one times. He wed Dharnani, an incarnation of Lakshmi, the wife of Vishnu. He is referenced in the Ramayana, due to the conflict with Rama, mentioning the Kshatriya who replaced the Brahmin King Dasaratha. He is referenced in the Mahabharata as the guru of Bishma and Drone, Rukmi, and Karna. According to Hindu creation mythology, "Parashurama" was born to the sage Jamadangari (the Kshatriya cause) and his Kshatriya wife Renuka. The local tradition shows that they lived in a hut at Janapav. Jamadangri also has a heavenly cow, meaning he and Renuka were completely sustained and provided for by Surabhi. Surabhi is the daughter of Kamadhenu, the cow of plenty. A king by the name of Kartavirya Arjuna hears of this cow of plenty and desires it. He asks Jamadangri to give it to him, but the sage declines. While Parsuhram is away from the hut, the king steals it. When Jamadangri pleads his case and seeks to return the cow ,the king strikes him with his fist killing him. Parsuhram learns of this act and is very upset.

With an axe in hand, he challenged the King to a fight. They fought, and as told in the Padma Purana, Pasrashuram liberated the head of the king from his body. The sinful wicked-minded one lost his velour by his own sins. Mighty Renuka's son in anger out his head, as meek Indra did the peak of a mountain; and as brave, and enraged cut off the head of Sahasrabahu and all the kings in battle. Seeing Rama, the extremely fearful one in form of an image embodied, all the kings on Earth ran very frightened as elephants do when lions are present. Enraged Rama killed those about to escape with no regard of their other feelings about their father's murder, just as enraged Garuda killed serpents. The great enraged Rama killed all of the Ksatriyas in the world, but saved only the great household of Iksvaku, even as he was connected to that family from his maternal grandfather, and from the words of his mother.

The warrior class stands in his way, and he slaughters the entire warrior class, with the exception of the warriors of the Manu lineages, and the Ikshvaku lineages. The son of Jamadagri, now triumphant against the Kshatriya class, conducts the ashvamedha sacrifice. He gives away 7 islands of earth, to the foremost rishis who belong to the Brahmins class. After he has renounced the earth and his acts of violence, he returns to Nar-Narayana's hermitage to conduct penance. The myth probably relates to a shamanic struggle, of the Brahman Varna, with roles of duties as knowledge, and the Kshatriya Varna, which includes warriors and enforcers. In the Ramayana, when Rama is returning to Ayodhya after marrying Sita at Mithlia, the procession starts to see bad omens. In the midst of an earthquake, and a dust storm, Parshuram presents himself to the procession.

Parashurama challenges Rama to fight after he comes to accept the libation. But he only accepts if the prince first shows his strength by putting a bow in the string of the sage’s bow (Sharanga) and shooting it. Do not listen to Dasharatha pleading to Parashurama that Rama is going to have to perform such a task! Parashurama narrates of the divine origins of the bow, and tells the history of ownership of the bow, and invites Rama to assist in warrior arts. At this point Rama takes the bow from Parashurama, and readies to string it (or draw it) at which time the sage had lost his powers, had humbled himself, and realized that Rama was indeed an incarnation of Vishnu. Parashurama recognized that he had lost his powers and asked Rama for permission to return to mountain Mahendra, so that he could practice yoga, and earn credits. Parashurama worshipped Rama by circling around him, and returned to his hermitage. Finally let us continue to remember, and worship Parashurama in the present, and seek the blessings of Him.
