PM Modi has again created history by getting passed the Waqf (Amendment Bill) 2025 through country’s highest law making body–the parliament after due debate, discussion and deliberations. The Waqf Bill has got assent from the president of the Indian Republic and it has become a law/act and its implementation has also begun. The Waqf bill has been passed lawfully and as per the constitutional provisions. But the so called secular political parties are sour with the passage of the Waqf bill and for vote bank politics and appeasement of the Muslim community, they are inciting the minority community against the Waqf act and thus there is unfortunate, unwarranted ,uncalled for, untenable and unnecessary debate and hue and cry in the country and some myopic Muslim organizations are up in arms against this act and demand rolling back of the Act which is very unreasonable demand. There is uproar and unnatural resentment and anger in the country’s Muslim population and they are making unreasonable demand of rolling back of the Waqf Act 2025 like what the Modi government had earlier took back the three controversial Farm Laws under pressure from the farm community.
The Muslim community should not be swayed by the emotions and sanity should prevail upon them and they should see reason and not unnecessarily debate and make unnecessary hue and cry about this important piece of central legislation which by every standard is beneficial for the common Muslims save only the brokers of the minority community. The Waqf Act is full of the benefits for the Muslim community and thus its opposition, criticism and mores so demand for its repealing is unjust and unreasonable as all the provisions of the Waqf Act are in the interest of the Muslim community and so Muslims should obey this law as it is in the interest of the community as all exploitation and misuse of the waqf law will come to an end due to the passage of the Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025 and so instead of making unnecessary noise Muslim community should cooperate with the government in the implementation of the Waqf Act which will be a great service to the minority community. It is so bad that some Muslims in the country are protesting against the passage of the Waqf (Amendment) Law 2025. True that protest is the democratic right of every citizen of India ,but the way Muslim community is resorting to demonstrations across the country is undemocratic and is akin to taking law into their hands which should not be done. However the fact is that Muslim community barring nationalistic Muslims are busy in protesting against this act which is unjust and undemocratic. Seen on the touchstone of utility, it is clear that the merits of the Waqf Act outnumber its limitations if any and so Muslim community should not get themselves carried by the unsavory criticism of the selfish and pseudo secular political parties and should see the reason and not indulge in blind criticism of a needed and opportune law which has been passed by the parliament in the interests of the minority community.

The Waqf Act 2025 aims to improve the management and governance of Waqf properties, enhance transparency and ensure accountability in their use. It also seeks to empower Muslim women, widows, divorcees, orphans and all marginalized sections of the Muslim community. It also seeks to address land disputes, and improve resource allocation for social welfare programs. Following specific benefits accrue from waqf Act.
1. Improved Governance - The Act aims to streamline Waqf Board operations ,enhance their efficiency , and ensure more inclusive decision-making.
2. Increased Transparency & Accountability - The Act introduces measures to track Waqf properties ,prevent financial mismanagement ,and ensure funds are used for welfare purposes.
3. Empowerment of Women - The Act emphasizes the importance of women’s involvement in Waqf management and directs resources towards programs like scholarships ,healthcare, and skill development for women. As per the Act there should be at least two Muslim members of the Board from women from the Muslim community.
4. Resolution of Land Disputes - The Act aims to address issues related to the misuse and illegal occupation of Waqf lands ,leading to increased revenue and improved welfare services.
5-Better Resource Allocation - The Act promotes the use of Waqf funds for education, healthcare, housing and livelihood support, benefitting the economically weaker sections of the community.
6. Inclusive Representation/management - The Waqf Board must have a minimum of two non-Muslim members and at least one member each various Muslim communities (Shia, Sunni, and backward classes).
7. Empowerment of the State governments - The Waqf Act empowers state governments to nominate members to the Waqf Board ,rather than electing them from specific electoral colleges.
The Waqf Act aims to streamline the Waqf Boards work and ensure the efficient management of Waqf properities. It aims to redress the issues and challenges in regulating and managing Waqf properties. The Waqf Act seeks to improve the administration and management of the Waqf proprieties in India. It aims to overcome the shortcomings of the previous act and enhance the efficiency of Waqf Boards by introducing changes such as renaming the Act, updating the definitions of Waqf, improving the registration process, and increasing the role of technology in managing waqf records. The benefits of the Waqf Act include changes to Waqf Boards ,to empower state governments to nominate members to the board, ensuring representation from various groups, and mandating representation of women and non-Muslims. The Act also clarifies the composition of the Waqf Board, requiring specific representation from different groups and communities. A few more benefits of waqf act are as follows:-
A. Streamlined Management and Legal Clarity—The act aims to resolve legal disputes and ambiguities in Waqf property management. It seeks to streamline coordination between Waqf Boards and local authorities. The Act also clarifies rules, includes more people in decision-making and improves how Waqf assets are used. B. Protection of Waqf Properties and Heritage sites—The Act includes provisions to protect waqf properties and safeguard heritage sites. It aims to prevent misuse of waqf properties as well as illegal occupation of waqf lands ,which can lead to increased revenue for waqf boards. By streamlining the management of waqf properties ,the Act aims to ensure that resources are used efficiently for the welfare and development programs of the Muslim community.
C. Empowerment and inclusion—The Act aims to make waqf boards more inclusive ,with representation from different Muslims sects ,for better governance and decision-making.It aims to empower backward classes and other sections of the Muslim community.
To conclude we can say that the Waqf Act introduces reforms to improve transparency ,governance, and inclusive representation in managing waqf properties .It empowers Muslim women, resolves land disputes and supports the poor through legal ,financial and administrative upgrades .It will strengthen informatics system for better tracking and accountability of waqf issues. In fact the Waqf Act will reform ,transform and revolutionize and digitize the waqf management and its properties for the welfare of the Muslim community. Therefore there should be no hue and cry about the waqf Act 2025 which is solely in the interest of the common Muslims. BJP has done well to initiate awareness campaign about the act among the People especially among Muslims. So desist from politicking on this important piece of legislation which is in the interest of the Muslim community. The matter of Waqf Act is sub-judice as several write petitions were filed against the act. So the political parties and the common Muslims should not take law into their hands. In Murshidabad district of West Bengal the protests against passage of the Waqf bill turned violent and unfortunately there was loot, arson, damage to private and government vehicles and properties and incidents of burning of properties and the violence resulted in the loss of life of three persons. Pseudo political parties and the general Muslims should appreciate and accept the fact that Waqf Act has been passed in the country’s parliament by majority vote and it has even got the assent from the president. Unfortunately protest against waqf Act has turned against Hindus. So there is no sense in protests, demonstrations and violence in the name of Waqf act. All concerned should behave as responsible citizens of democracy and shun the path of violence. Hats off to Modi for the bold step for the interest of the Muslim brethren.
