It is the great spectacle of Sanatan faith and belief kanwaries are pouring from all directions to the holy city of haridwar to have the holy bath and for fetching the sacred waters. In the beautiful pictures, the kanwars carry the ganga jal in pots on their shoulders and take it to their cities and villages for the noble and divine purpose of Jalabishek of shiv lingas. The kanwaris dressed in safron yellow clothes decorate the pictures and fasten it with bamboo sticks and clung it with shoulders. It is in fact the faith that young old men as well as women come from far flung areas to fetch Ganga waters for sprinkling on shiv linga back in their hometowns. Hundreds and thousands of shiv bhaktas immersed in devotion of lord Shiva demonstrate immense faith in santan dharma and undertake journey on foot to haridwar to fetch holy water of Ganga.
It is infact a pageant of faith and devotion to lord Shiva and demostrates that Hindus have faith in lord Shiva. The holy month of sawan is dear to Shiva and the devotees of lord Shiva undertake journy preferably on foot and propitiate Shiva who is believed to be the lord of destruction and seek his blessings. There is big rush, hustle and bustle on the roads of haridwar and the markets are open day and night not only the haridwar roads but the roads of kankhal and road leading to Rishikesh are also witnessing the rush of kanwarias. There are also trucks and tractors well decorated with yellow cloth and the idols of lord Shiva are kept on it.
