The Shrine of Sultan Sahib (Sultan Darvesh) at Hakura Badasgam, Anantnag
The month of sawan is considered and regarded as the holy month in Hinduism. This month is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is also called Neelkanth and lord of destruction. In this month Hindus particularly worship lord Shiva and seek his blessings. Hindus also pray to lord Shiva for world peace and happiness. We generally witness huge inflow of Shiv devotees in Jammu and Kashmir's famous Amarnath cave. While at the same time, the huge rush of devotees can be seen at Haridwar which is the most pious and sacred religious place of Hindus. The devotees of Shiva are thronging and pouring from all directions and in fact it can be said that a sea of humanity has descended in the holy city of Haridwar. Just like Shri Amarnath Yatra, there is a Kawad Yatra in which thousands of yatris visit the Holy place of Haridwar. In 2025, the Kawad yatra will begin around July 11th, 2025, and culminate on July 23rd, 2025, or with the last Shravan Somvar (Monday). The primary ritual involves fetching holy water from the Ganges River (Ganga Jal) and offering it at Shiva temples. The Shiv bhakts and the Kanwars have come in lakhs to Haridwar to fetch the sacred water of Ganga. The Kanwars keep hanging pitchers fitted with bamboo sticks and decorate it and they are seen every where in Haridwar and Kankhal and even Rishikesh. The Kanwaris are dressed in saffron clothes and are chanting bum bum bole and are taking holy dip in Ganga. They fetch Ganga Jel in the pictures and take the waters to their towns and villages to be used for the Jal Abhshiek of Shiva in temples of their vicinity. The kanwaries have deep faith in Lord Shiva and they are the ardent devotees of Shiva and worship and undertake the ardus journey on foot to Haridwar for holy dip in Ganga in the first half fortnight of the month of Sawan. There is much rush and crowd in the markets roads and it is very inconvenient to travel on the roads of Haridwar. One encounters unprecedented rush and crowd in Haridwar. All hotels guest houses and Dharamshalls are occupied by the yatris and devotees of Lord Shiva. The holy city of Haridwar is witnessing unprecedented rush of devotees of Shiva and kanwaris are seen every where in Haridwar. The month of Sawan is important and sacred month for Hindus and the devotees worship lord Shiva and keep him in good mood and seek his blessings.
The BJP government of Pushker Singh Dami has made elaborate arrangements for Kanwar Yatra 2025 and the Shrawan mela. The administration of a Uk has deployed police and RAF personnel in large numbers and are not allowing cycle Rikshaws and Autos to enter the roads leading to Haridwar and are managing the rush of devotees But some shopkeepers and confectionaries are taking undue advantage of the unprecedented rush of devotees and are charging milk at the rate of Rs 100 Similarly the vegetable vendors are also selling various vegetables at exorbitant rates and snatching much money from the yatris The government should give attention towards the exploitative practices of unscrupulous shopkeepers including those selling milk curd and vegetables to give some relief to the yatris coming to Haridwar BJP government should come to the rescue of the pilgrims and save them from the exploitation of selfish and cunning traders selling day to day items To sum up we can say that Tsunami of Sanatan has descended Haridwar and the spectacle of faith and devotion is worth appreciating.
May Lord Shiva fulfill the desires of the devotees It is said about Shiva that he is pleased by a small worship and so the devotees should propitiate Lord Shiva and seek his blessings May Lord Shiva bring peace prosperity health and happiness to all the citizens of India But there is no short cut to worship of Shiva and the devotees should pay obedience to Lord Shiva and seek his blessings Rest be assured that God will lessen our sufferings and bring peace. and prosperity to Indians
