Swami Vivekananda is famous not just in India, in the world. For the entirety of Swami Vivekananda's life, he would devote and embody the values of our ancient Indian culture. Swami Vivekananda was referred to as Narendra Dutta during his younger days. Narendra was rambunctious and very hyper as a young child. When he was a child, he exhibited signs of intelligence and a sense of humor.

As a young boy, Narendra experienced the works of Ramayana, and Mahabharata which invoked his interest in spirituality. He was naturally fascinated by heroism and mystical elements. Nevertheless, his great interest in spiritualty also made him very argumentative. He questioned everything that he found no clear explanation for. Spirituality and Godly elements was always an argument to him. Swamiji wanted to know the truth of God, and no saint or monk could answer that for him until he met his Guru, Ramakrishna Paramahansa. The first meeting with his Guru changed the whole perception of young intrusive Narendra. Young Narendra went to Ramakrishna Paramahansa in a very intrusive way. He was looking to examine the truth of Gods existence in a very tangible way. Shri Ramakrishna saw the young boy, burning eyes to see the ultimate truth. That moment the great saint got to know that this young boy will have phenomenal impression to mankind. Vivekananda was enlightened by Ramakrishna Paramahansa and called him a Guru. Swami Vivekananda over the years became a master subject of spirituality and uplifted the entire Indian culture and Hinduism. At that World Religion Conference in Chicago Swami Vivekananda walks to speak.

The Indian religions promote the values of universal acceptance, oneness and identity and harmony, even while speaking from their own cultural vantage. More than that, Swami Vivekananda exuded the beauty of Indian religions saying we are able to accept all religions as true. Swami Vivekananda is responsible for bringing to an end India's cultural detachment from the world. He was a man of highest ideals and synergising great ideas that constructed the fabric of youth in our country. He gave young minds ideas that were dynamic forces of self-realisation and character-development. Humanity entered a new stage of cultural evolution with his ideas. When he was in his youth, Vivekananda, was influenced by the agnostic western philosophical schools. However, he pursued an aggressive desire to know the truth of God, so he approached reputable people, asking if they had seen God. With those concerns he met Shri Ramakrishna Paramahansa. Swami Vivekananda's philosophy referred to as Vedanta Philosophy, as it mostly is today, comprises all the various sects that currently exist in India. He galvanised to the youth of the country, to fight against colonial oppression, provide social services, and work for people in a unified manner. His teachings fostered inter-faith discussions and interfaith awareness. He also campaigned against superstitions, and for women's uplift in society. He became an extraordinary figure both in India and globally due to his indomitable courage, broad vision, spiritual outlook, mature wisdom, and vast education along with an abiding love of his beloved country. India is justifiably proud of this extraordinary genius.

The philosophy of oneness of religions is of his universal character and he also considered that who has absolutely and unconditionally devoted himself to God through service to mankind, is really a religioin man. In this pursuit he established the Ramakrishna Mission which is outstanding example of lofty ideas like humanity, caste system, spirituality and fervent nationalism. His teachings helped in awakening the people of India from Himalayas to Cape of Comorin, by bringing greater harmony in all their differences and injecting huge zeal and strength into their minds and helping them rise from stupor, lethargy and despair. His contribution to awaken the people of India to realise their culture and spiritual heritage is great. He is one of the immortals that have given new orientation to our thinking and action in the cultural and political domain. Swami Vivekananda has mentioned stresses on the recognition of youth power for nation building. He had a great conviction that Indian education is man making and character making.
