The Shrine of Sultan Sahib (Sultan Darvesh) at Hakura Badasgam, Anantnag
Our generation has been used to developing with technology and having it surrounding us at all times. Whereas we've begun with slower or larger, telling us what it is like to be always 'plugged in' or 'connected.' This is undoubtedly a complete game-changer for the way the world communicates and functions, ranging from global business to a couple of words being shared back and forth through text from buddies. In today's age it is difficult to recall when social media was not an integral part of our existence. Even Facebook itself had begun as a small platform to provide a connection between Harvard students and their peers, but now it has turned into a multi-billion dollar business. Now these kind of sites like Facebook and Twitter have so many advertisements and popular users can earn millions by promoting things on these social networking websites.
Like other well known people, social sites can provide a key role for the greater good. Influential people are able to Tweet about the causes or charities they are rallying behind and therefore get their cause noticed. Social Media makes people to be able to communicate in ways that we never would have dreamed without it. People can’t afford/be bothered to have a conversation lasting for an hour on the phone every day with numerous people. It’s so easy to reconnect with someone’s life via a quick computer message, even email. With Social Media you have not only an outlet for personal communication, but for business, purchasing, and anything else you can think of, really. Companies have skyrocketed thanks to advertising or media sites because they can spread the word much faster. Most people don't read the ads in the paper now and the world is all about online - of course people are going to take notice when you advertise on a site they are focused on - Twitter or Fangdungeon or whatever.
Social networking sites have made everyone a rock star with their own reality show (for better or worse I might add) and it can also shine a spotlight on the smallest of initiatives with the largest ability to change the world. In a metaphor, people can feel empowered by visiting sites like facebook, twitter, and linkedin to find and talk to those who are hundreds of miles away from them. Social media has given businesses the ability to connect to customers, who might be on the opposite coast — or even on the other side of the world. Game-changer as a marketing tool You bet. Moreover after the Covid period too where their was a lockdown, the social networking sites has become one of extensively powerful tool which has facilitated learning among the students. Basically, in the absence of social media, the teaching among the students during covid crisis cannot be achieved. In this way, we can say social media is the backbone of the child and the biggest pillar of today’s education system.
In the contemporary world, social media usage is an unavoidable activity in the daily lives of people. Social media is used routinely for social interaction and obtaining information and news, and decision-making. It is a convenient tool for communicating with other people locally and globally, as well as to share, produce, and pass on information. Social media can affect consumer buying decisions through reviews, marketing strategies and advertisements. Practically the whole age group of f 13 to 64 use Facebook. One can use these social network websites to unite people across the globe. That, by itself, allows business meetings to be held across the globe through Google Hangouts or that old friends can reunite. For companies, schools, and other groups, the possibilities for communications are limitless.
These social networking websites have more and more transcended personal usage. Employers started using social networking websites for background screening of their potential candidates, and even conducting interviews of their candidates through Facebook or other social network technology platforms. Groups can make virtual appointments or brainstorm even if they cannot see each other in real life. This facilitates the ease of the time limitations of school projects and board meetings. It is beyond a question that we as a society are adult dependent and dependent on social networking sites. One of the largest industries encountered by social media is news and journalism. Because, the internet is the quickest and simplest method of receiving news, print is dwindling and journals are having to post their stories on the internet. Another consequence of this new technology is that nearly anyone can now refer to themselves as a "journalist" and create news that they believe is correct and trustworthy. We can produce, transmit, and disseminate news that is newsworthy or rumor-driven all over the world almost instantaneously. Social media has only facilitated this. News headlines are being delivered through Twitter and other social networking platforms and individuals all over the world are hearing about them virtually in seconds. Social media has made our world far more knowledgeable about international news and affairs.
Now we can Skype colleagues/friends on other continents, track world trends through Twitter, handle our various email accounts using the phone, network with other professionals through LinkedIn, post photos and last night's rumors on WhatsApp, initiate a brand on Instagram, build a community on Facebook, access the latest news through our news apps, order a taxi to work through Uber and track our daily calorie burn through our FitBit. And we do all these without even standing up from bed. Social media has a negative side too. Rather than learning something new, or physical activity, Indian teens hang around in Facebook, upload their selfies and comments and spend a lot of time in fruitless activities. The outcome is low IQ and bad physical health. Office workers utilize social media at work. This distracts them from work and renders them useless. Anyone with a smartphone and Internet can have social media in their hands - on your computer, on mobile, at the coffee shop, while on travel, while at home lounging, etc.
It has turned many city Indians into addicts. This addiction eats into leisure time and keeps them up at night, kills self-confidence, triggers stress and much more. It is not always good to have people's lives in one's hands at every moment. There is a new trend of cyber bullying wreaking havoc all over the world. This is more so the case with young little children. They are abusing one another publicly, and posting ugly or slanderous things which are flashed to the whole cyber world. One of the most serious issues with the social media phenomenon is that individuals are becoming increasingly addicted to it. It is the leading time waster in the workplace, at school, and at home. All this has resulted in individuals having literal withdraws from their social networks. In short, we can say that if the social media is utilized under discipline, then definitely it will be a revolution otherwise our younger generation may perhaps falls under victim or trap of it.
