King Kohli:- A True Sportsman and a dedicated Cricketer
Born to Prem and Saroj Kohli in Delhi, India, in 1988, he was christened after a famous Hindu character, the king of Aurangzeb's time in the late 17th century. As a toddler, little would it have been possible for anyone to predict the awesome height of his future achievements. From the tender age of 9 years, Kohli was well into cricket, from where he gradually ascended to being one of the best modern-day batsmen. He laid the foundation of his cricket career at the West Delhi Cricket Academy when he was just around nine years old. He was an extraordinary kid and rose fast through the ranks. Both his inexpressible natural talent and ferocity of devotion to the game left deep impressions on coaches and some eager peers. The debut stint in Ankhillon: Kohli made his first-class debut for his native Delhi at the age of 19. He made a mark, scoring 50 on his debut, in addition to showcasing tremendous strokeplay. A continuum of fine Form allowed Kohli-a spot on the India Under-19 team for the 2008 World Cup-in which he had one of the tournament's better shows. Kohli made his foray into international cricket in 2008, first being played in ODI format for India against Sri Lanka in August and in T20I format against West Indies in December; he made significant contributions in both formats with a half-century in his fourth ODI and an unbeaten century in his second T20I.
He also serves as an example and an inspiration for every youth. He achieved success in the proverbial cricket arena, has ventured into other business projects, and has become the latest god of success and hard work in India. There is no greater mistake than saying that Virat Kohli, recently dubbed Cricket God in Australia, is actually in Australia and that the Australian media has already declared the opening of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with all pomp and show in the celebration of the arrival of 'King.' Publications like The West Australian and Sydney Morning Herald are indeed carrying Kohli, at the ripe old age of 36, as the lead anchor on their front pages. However, on not a single occasion do they leave the opportunity unturned in bringing back the old bane of reminders about Virat Kohli's slump in form that he has been enduring for a considerable time now. Thus, it will certainly not be an airy-fairy statement that the obsession for 'King Kohli' by the Australian media is pathological. The whopping image of Virat Kohli greets an excited audience, while Sydney Morning Herald describes him with a fitting blurb: "A Heavy Crown." The article reads, "After five years of mediocrity in Test matches, Virat Kohli enters the five-match Test series against Australia under accentuated scrutiny. It is relevant to clarify here that in the last four years, Kohli, who has thirty Test tons to his name, has only been able to score two centuries in the longest format. The only two scored in 2023: against Australia and West Indies."
All this finally boils there into an epitome of hard work, determination, zeal, humility, and resilience that define Virat Kohli's ambition. Youths in India identified him as the light of inspiration and a role model for young aspiring cricketers worldwide.
